Why I Love Sarah Flint’s “The Rosie”

As you may have read by now, I am a newly minted Sarah Flint Brand Ambassador – which means I get to tell you all about a woman-led brand I’m getting to know and love – one thoughtfully crafted pair of shoes at a time. And you know that I am physically unable to write about anything to which I don’t feel a strong connection, so rest assured my opinions are my own and come from a place of true admiration and desire to share (speaking of sharing: my code, SARAHFLINT-BAVALERIAL, gets you $50 OFF your first pair!).

Today, I’m diving in to tell you about The Rosie – my very first SF pair (and already my closet’s favorite everyday shoe). But I can’t tell you about The Rosie without first highlighting its most luxurious features. You see, one of the things that most poignantly distinguishes Sarah Flint from other luxury shoe brands is its unapologetic devotion to both women’s comfort and lifestyle – making for styles that fit as beautifully as they are suited for everyday elegance. For Sarah, who founded the brand at just 25 (serious #goals), being able to offer style without sacrifice was key. As such, Sarah Flint is built on the tenets of: design that inspires, quality and style that endures, and comfort that keeps you moving, always. Designed by and inspired by women, expertly handcrafted by experienced artisans across Italy, and offered at direct-to-consumer/no markup pricing, Sarah Flint shoes are quality, investment pieces meant to be cherished and walked in. After all, what’s the point of spending your well-earned money on beautiful pieces that won’t last on for more than a couple of hours or, worse yet, will just sit in your closet for most of the year?

And on this usability, style and comfort, The Rosie more than delivers. The slip-on loafer has a minimal, one-inch block heel that’s not only perfect for me (I’m 5’9 and don’t do ultra-high heels) but also adds an oomph of elegance to an otherwise simple design. The almond toe is both timeless and so comfortable. Comfort really is at the heart of every Sarah Flint design, and it’s palpable from the very first wear. Each pair of shoes provides anatomical arch support with an added mold to support the natural arch of the foot; an additional six millimeters of memory foam cushioning at the footbed for extreme comfort; and a wider toe box that eases foot crowding for all-day wearability. And to really ensure you can #WalkLikeAWoman, the no-slip grip rubber outsole provides secure walkability no matter where your day takes you.

Just as relentless for comfort as she is for craftsmanship, Sarah Flint is “discerning and relentless in sourcing and partnering with the most experienced and knowledgable artisans in the industry.” In fact, more than 12 artisans touch each pair of shoes before they’re finished, boxed up and shipped – and that level of attention shows (not to mention, it’s a tremendous feat in sustainability – but more on that in an upcoming blog post). Handcrafted in Italy, The Rosie has a triple-dyed Italian suede upper, leather lining and insole, and a leather outsole with full rubber forepart. I opted for them in Black Suede (because, hello timelessness!), but they’re also available in Taupe and Navy (so classy) and, for those looking for a little more sass, in Black Snake Embossed Nappa and Chocolate Leopard Hair Calf (stunning).

When I say these are the most versatile shoes in my closet, I really mean it. Given that we’re currently living in midst of a global pandemic, wearability was a must for me. From the first wear on, my Rosies have been as comfortable as they have been complementary to almost any outfit I throw on together – not to mention, the suede does wonders for elevating just about anything I wear (a la Audrey, in my hopeful aspiration).

In terms of sizing, these run about a smidge large, so you’ll want to go a 1/2 size down. Sarah Flint uses Italian sizing, so keep that in mind when selecting your pair (if you can’t figure it out, the SF team is amazing about helping with sizing, so be sure to drop them a note). The initial fit will and should be comfortably snug, as the leather will stretch (in width) with wear. The more you wear them, the more buttery they’ll feel! *chef’s kiss*

As you can tell, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Rosie, and this pair has made me even more excited about trying other Sarah Flint styles. I’ve had my eyes on the Perfect Emma and the Natalie for the longest time, so stay tuned for upcoming reviews.

In the meantime, if you fancy a pair of your own, my code (SARAHFLINT-BAVALERIAL) gets you $50 OFF your first pair. And, of course, let me know which one(s) you end up choosing!
